Woah! Has the soccer world gone mad? At first it may seem that way but when you think about it, it makes sense. After all soccer is big business, especially for the big clubs.
You see Real Madrid are seriously lacking in the silverware department and the structure of the club is such that the members not only demand silverware but more importantly dividends.
So how can they justify paying £80 million for Ronaldo and £56 million for Kaka?
You can't argue that both these footballers are amongst the best in the world, and apart from the money, they have made the move to play for silverware ( and I bet the weather was a major factor). Playing at a club like Real Madrid will allow their game to flow and they will flourish amongst some of the best players in the world.
But big business needs returns on investment.
The celebrity status of Christiano Ronaldo and Kaka is at a peak and the amount of media attention, merchandising and deals they'll attract will be phenomenal – adding to Real Madrid's bottom line.
Real Madrid will definitely start seeing a return on investment in no time at all and winning silverware will be a bonus.
